Joy Ride Transport was established in 2010. Since its inception, Joy Ride has formed a reputation, among its clients, for being the most reliable and compassionate wheelchair and special needs transportation company in the Greater Des Moines metro. Our sense of purpose is driven by our commitment to provide dependable, safe and compassionate non-emergency wheelchair and ambulatory transportation for the elderly and disabled in Central Iowa. We are passionate about what we do and treat our clients like family.

Non-Emergency Transportation is a transportation service that helps individuals who need assistance with transportation but are not in an emergency situation requiring an ambulance or other emergency vehicle. Joy Ride provides ambulatory (able to walk) and wheelchair non-emergency transportation service.

Joy Ride provides ambulatory (able to walk) and wheelchair transportation for Des Moines and surrounding communities. If you have any questions about our coverage area, please call us at 515-331-1100.

Joy Ride provides service 6AM-5PM Monday-Friday, but our office is open 8AM-5PM Monday- Friday. We do not provide service on some holidays (ex. Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and etc.).

Patients and residents in Hospitals, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Hospices, Rehabilitation Centers as well as Private-Pay individuals all use Joy Ride as a safe and reliable way to transport their residents, patients and clients. We handle admits, discharges, doctor appointments, dialysis, chemo and relocations. If your facility uses some other provider, ask them (Case Workers, Social Services, DONs) about using Joy Ride.

No. We are a private pay provider. We will give you a receipt for you to send in to your insurance if they reimburse. However, if you have Medicaid you can call your Medicaid insurance company and request Joy Ride as your provider.

No. We provide non-emergency medical transportation only. If you or your loved one are facing a medical emergency, please call 911 immediately.
